At Glossika, we take a strong stance on language preservation.ย

We want to help document the languages of the world, champion them, and, through Viva, hope to eventually create learning content for even the smallest of languages.

To this end, we provide free courses for local dialects and/or languages that don't have very many languages available. You'll see these languages marked as "free" on our course page, and you can enjoy them forever simply by signing up for an account (that's free, too)!

We currently offer 9 Free courses: Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka (Sixian), Hakka (Hailu), Wenzhounese (Wu), Kurdish (Sorani), Catalan, Manx, Welsh, and Gaelic. These languages will always be free to study.

Please note that what we are doing is not offering "small" languages for free, but rather offering minoritized languages for free. "Minoritized" is a specific linguistic word that describes languages that have been persecuted, marginalized, or even outright banned. As such, a language like Irish is not considered to be minoritized: it has few speakers, but it is also the national language of a country called Ireland.

Note: Certain premium features (the recording feature) are available with paid subscriptions.
